Here are the highlights of our first-ever (and hopefully not our last) 200 Yard rimfire prone fun match. The match was shot with unlimited sighters for each match, with sighters used only at the start -no going back to a sighter bull. All shooters shot on an NRA A-21 smallbore target. The match was scored using the Hexta electronic targets, -which worked perfectly all day. So, no pit duty, no backers, and no 10 shots on a bull to confuse me
. It was kinda neat hearing the shot out of the rifle, and a little while later hearing the bullet impact the target -too funny! We shot three 20 shot matches, and the two relays finished up around noon.
I have to thank our competitors for the help setting up and tearing down the targets –we were a well-oiled machine out there today! I was hoping for a larger turnout, but I imagine the forecast didn't help us too much. We DID get the match in without a drop of rain though!
Second, thank you to our competitors for their donations to DSSA –we are going to need every dime we can get in the days ahead (unfortunately). Thanks to your generosity, we raised $230 bucks for the fight.
I hope to schedule some more of these fun shoots/fundraisers for after the Saturday portion of our regular Mid-Range matches –I will keep you posted.
Finally, here are the match results (attached).
To no one’s real surprise, Jon Howell came out on top (this time
), posting a super-nice 592-29X, and including a clean 200-8X on the second match. That is some pretty fine shooting for 22LR at 200 yards!
Joe Fogg put in a great performance as well, shooting a nice 580-17X with iron sights.
In F-Class category, Lou Domenici turned in a pretty nice 578-19X, with, as I recall, a cold-bore X! Well done Lou!
Special thanks too, to Jack Neith for hanging around and helping on a ‘day off’ –you need a rimfire rifle now so you can shoot too!
Thanks everyone –I hope you had enough fun to want to do this again real soon!
