Brass storage..?

I am needing more space in my reloading room as we all do..lol

My question is would it be a bad thing for me to store my brass in an outside storage building , basically my shop/garage...? It does get very hot here during the summer months in central Texas so the building my get up to 120 degrees.... The brass is stored in 5 gallon buckets with lids to seal them... It stays dry in there also...

Any problems you guys see with bad long term effects on the brass...???

Thanks for your answers and knowledge ahead of time as always...

Shawn

As the 2 previous stated & IF your concerned with moister & humidity you could put a small desiccant pack in with them inside each Zip-Lock. - I think Grainger on-line store has them. - Sealed & Dry will serve you well.

It will tarnish/corrode if stored poorly, but if kept in a sealed container it will last quite a long time without issue. I have a container of brass that’s been sitting for 17 years (from an abandoned project that I keep promising to get back to). It looks pretty much new.

You will be fine. The only thing to worry about is using good lids. Some of the low cost options do not handle weight very well.

Ok, thanks everyone.... I just need more room , since I have taken over a spare bedroom with all my stuff I don't think my wife will give me another...lol. The brass is all sorted and in Ziploc bags then in 5 gallon buckets so it should be good.... I am going to have to get another outside storage building I guess... In 2011 we lost everything in a huge Forest fire and I don't know how all this stuff accumulated... There seems to be a little bit of everything and it's time for a yard sale...

I was more worried about the heat during the summer , it gets very hot in central Texas.... I guess I can put the buckets out there and just keep an eye on them...

You will be fine with storage of brass outside in your storage building. I would put them in baggies first and then get a Gamma seal screw on lid for the 5 gallon pail. The lids are cheap and have an o-ring for a water tight seal.

Just to be extra safe, bring the brass into an air conditioned environment for a few days prior to sealing the plastic bags. I'd dump the brass out in the open inside for a few days do get rid of as much moisture as possible before sealing.
