Brass source you may not have considered

I have had good success in obtaining pistol brass (9mm, 40sw, 45acp) and rifle brass 223/308 as once fired by my local sheriff department on their range for training and qualifying.

you might check and see if your sheriff is selling, giving away, or what and make an offer.

mine gave it to me, now (I have more than I need) he sells it to a commercial re-loader.

worth checking.

Yep I just got a pile of LC 5.56 and 223 brass. Was offered pistol brass, but from what componets Ive found on the net I can buy FMJ ammo for not much more than I can reload it.

My police dept gets a box of 50 every year to qualify with. The rest they carry thru the year and keep. I think they shoot 20rds a yr officially

Our PD won't sell anything they shoot, they scrap it all. My brother has to qualify for his job every 6 months and he shoots 100rds and the class has around 20 people. They have classes once a month and they literally throw all of the brass in the trash. He asked to have it and they said no.

must be anti gun department liberals, guys here will give or sell 5 gal tubs to you. you may have to sweep it up and sort but you get it.

Their department and state must be different than all of the others. Nearly any government type of entity is required by law to recycle, reuse or sell for scrap any precious metals. Brass falls under that description.

Our dept doesn't have any excess 40cal brass, I bought it all. I won't run out in my lifetime. We qualify twice a year with an average of 10-12 shooters per sesson. 4 sessions. An average sesson will burn 1500+ rds. All the checks (no cash) are paid into a fund used for drug related crime. It is a good way to raise a little more funding for projects + it's a write off for me. Twist on the libs a little.
