Brass Quality

Have you all found that quality of brass for different calibers vary from different Manufacturers?Like Lapua is the best for 6BR or Norma is the best for .243?By best I guess I mean fewest duds in a 100ct box.Or the least amount of work to get them ready to load/shoot.I read a lot about Lapua 6BR being very good without doing anything to it.What would your opinions be on the following calibers?

Thanks, Steve.

.223
22-250
.220 Swift
.243
.308

Steve,
Welcome to 6br.com and thanks for post.
I can only speak form my experiences. I have shoot a lot of Winchester, Remington, and Laupa brass. You can spend a lot of time prepping Winchester and Remington brass, de-burring flash holes, uniforming primer pockets, dealing with inconsistent neck thickness etc.

Euro brass is usually ready to go out of the box. It saves you time. I think it will last a little longer if the speeds are kept within a reasonable range.

I am not a big fan of Remington brass.
Laupa vs. Winchester both shoot well in all of my guns, the big difference in case prep time.

Over the past few years, I have gravitated to reloading only calibers that I can buy Laupa brass for and shoot Match Kings in.

Thanks Chuck. So far I've only been loading for my .243.I bought some Lapua brass for it and my rifle seems to really like a factory load from Hornady.Their 'Custom' 75grn HPFB.So I have a lot of Hornady brass for it also. When I'm cleaning up the primer pockets, flash holes, etc. There doesn't seem to be as much brass removed from the Lapua as the Hornady.I was just wondering if Lapua's or others quality is pretty consistant through the list of calibers.

Thanks again. Steve

I guess that a lot of folks on this forum will gravitate towards Lapua and Norma as top notch brass. I've shot and reloaded a lot of different brands and like both Lapua and Norma. No need to prep the brass and they are anealed in the calibers I shoot.

I use Lapua brass for all calibers except 300WSM, for that I use Norma. At one point I had 40 pieces of Hornady .308 'Match' brass. I thought it was pretty decent and held up very well, I reloaded it at least 20 times.

Thanks guys.Looks like I'll just stick with Lapua. Is it available in all the calibers I listed?I've only seen it in I think 5 or 6 different chamberings.

Steve.
