Brass life for the X

One year ago I started with a new 6BrX barrel and new brass
Lost 3 fireforming somewhere during 10 reloads I lost two to case saperation and one with a split neck. So I have 96 out of 100 left. I annealed brass every 3rd firing. I got one more match for the year that will basically put most brass at 11firings
The plan is to start next year with new brass for matches and
Use the old for practice
Not sure what the norm is
When do you retire brass.

So your going to start new brass on existing barrel?

I will start with 200 pieces straight of and rotate them for the life of the barrel, usually run the brass 10 to 15 firings no problem, and keep them on the same firing cycle..

If I had been alittle more experienced in this I might have gone your route. You did somewhat answer a couple of questions that maybe 2500 is Barrel life and that 200 rounds of brass should last Barrel life.

Yes 2500rnds is not uncommon, some get more or less.. Yes 200 pieces of brass should easily last you a barrel.

Curious how many people will use old brass in a new barrel. My dasher barrel has 2500 rounds on it and my approx 380 pcs of Lapua brass has 7 firings. Primer pockets are still tight and I anneal every firing.

I do, 20 pieces would wear out a barrel if you anneal every time do not over work it sizing and don't over load. I load at the top and have no issues, no loose primers unless Lapua sends them that way. No split necks ever, Some split shoulders fire forming due to folds...... jim

The primer pockets tell me when to retire them. And that's a lot of loads..
I use old brass on new barrels, but all my BRX chambers are cut with the same reamer.

I shoot F Class and like to have 200ish cases in rotation for multi day match's.
