Question for the experianced here. I am reloading for a .308 win with lapua brass. I just bought a new box of brass and of corse with all the lapua brass i have seen it was very uniform. I have been wandering about when to trim and have measured alot of my past lapua brass after firing through my rifle and it seems to all be pretty short. So with the new batch of brass I measured and seperated 20 peices that all measured 2.007 length and loaded all with berger 168s and 43g varget. After firing the cases were measured again. All shrank but some more than others. The shortest one out of the 20 I fired measures 1.997. I am not worried as much about the fact that they shrank but that they shrank different amounts. What could be causing this? Maybe it is normal, I am new to the game so my concern could be nothing to worrie about just wanting some input. If it is normal how do you ever get your brass to be uniform in length since the recomended trim length for the 308 is 2.005. Should I shorten all to 2.000? Thanks in advance for the help.
