Brass Goat

Does anyone use the "Brass Goat" brass catcher on their AR-15 or AR-10? They can catch the brass of a 30rd mag. If had the mesh bag catcher but they do not work well. Thanks.

Yes, I have/had to use a dremel to clear a thermal sight mount(crossbolt nuts). And side charging handle. One of my lowers must be a bit thick(mag well length) so it is tight mount on that one. Easy to customize the fit. I have both a large and shorter brass catch box, I use the short one on the bench with bags and hunting . Also have a similar brass catcher from Amazon, works well for the price.

Thanks for the replies. I didn't know they had shorter ones for 20 round mags. As we in California cannot purchase 30 rounders, I purchase what are blocked 20 rd mags that can only hold 10 rounds. Such is what we put up with. Hopefully we can eventually change that but I'm not holding my breath. Cheers!

I'll tell ya what -- having ANY brass catcher will double your pleasure when shooting these little new fangled rifles.

I've got the mesh bag right now, but Ima hafta try the goat. jd

Been using a goat for some time..it works well. It does leave wear marks if that bothers you which is a fair gripe, but all my lowers have been dinged at one point or another so it doesn't bother.

JD the goat is pretty handy when you get through shooting and drop the mag, you can pull the handle and the last live round will eject to the catch box and not hit the ground.
