For Sale: benchrest stock ( MPI? McMillan?).
I bought the stock new many years ago. Don't remember who made it (it was sourced by the gunsmith). The rifle was put in the gun closet and never used. It was fitted to a black powder inline sealed-breach benchrest barreled action made by master barrel cutter Jim Goodoein of Blaine, MN. It was never glass bedded. I never shot the rifle (life happened). A trigger guard was never mounted. So, this stock is "used", but never used. It is in excellent condition, except for the action and barrel area that was opened up to ~ 1 1/8"-1 3/16 - 1 1/4" diameter. The exterior has never painted. It is "black." It has a ventilated recoil pad.
The inletted action area width is 1.25" , round / cylindrical contour.
The inletted barrel channel width is 1.25" at the face of the action area, and 1 1/8"+ wide at the muzzle end of the forearm, and 1 3/16" wide halfway between. Cylindrical contour. No bedding compound.
The fore-end bottom is flat, 2 15/16" wide.
The LOP, from the middle of the trigger area mortise, to the end of the stock ( not including the 15/16" recoil pad) is 14 1/4". With the ventilated recoil pad, (black, Pachmayr White Line) add 15/16".
The stock has a 5/16" diameter hole drilled in it, that was used for attaching a Goodoein-designed bedding/recoil block on the rear area of the barrel. The barrel channel is mortised to accept the removable bedding block ( not in the stock, it sold with the barreled action) ~1 13/16" long, ~9/16" wide, ~ 7/8" deep. The mortised area is not visible from the bottom / exterior of the stock. The stock's rear action bolt hole was never drilled/used. The C-T-C hole spacing from the actual drilled bedding block hole, to the rear action bolt hole area (if it was drilled) is ~7 1/16".
The stock's length (from bottom of flat forearm, to butt area (not including recoil pad) = 30 3/16" ( add 15/16" with recoil pad). The measurement from the center of the rear action screw hole, to the end of the fore-end (on the bottom) = ~17.5". The bottom of the action area has a mortise for a Rem 700 ADL trigger guard (guard not included).
The stock's max width in the "action area" = ~ 2 3/8" ( slightly rounded contour).
The stock width at the top of the action (and barrel channel) area = ~ 1 9/16" (x "the flats").
Weight: I don't have a good scale. Using a digital bathroom scale I am getting about 2.0 lbs ( 36 oz).
$295, shipped to lower 48, from Maine.
