Boyd Allen opinion wanted

Not too long ago I read a post where Boyd casually mentioned success with the Hornady Lock & Load die insert. Knowing Boyd is non-compromising on accuracy, I am looking for more details on the quick change system:

1. Does die alignment equal a good conventional set up given a trued press?
2. Is the accuracy of the alignment repeatable when removing and reinstalling the die?
3. Is the Hornady quick change fixture better than the Lee quick change fixture and why?

Anyone else who has good information on this is more than welcome to comment on their experience. I am not looking for the insert being "good enough". I am looking for high precision equal to a conventional accuracy set up.

Thanks in advance,
Jim Hardy

My shooting buddy uses one in his Redding Press. His run out is exceptionally good. I questioned him on it when his gun wasn't shooting real good. He told me his run out numbers and I said it wasn't the cause of his bad shots. I should have known better because he is more anal about things then I am. Matt

Just to be 100% clear, are you referring to the Lock & Load Die Bushing that works in the L&L system press?

Do you already have the Hornady L&L press, or thinking about getting one?

PS

I found one reviewer's comments on MidwayUSA of interest:

"As a design concept, Hornady's die bushings are wonderful: (1) they are well priced, and (2) the lug locking design makes caliber conversion turnkey. Two caveats re design execution: (1) die-bushing depth settings vary between Hornady's own single-stage and progressive presses, dampening one's hope of turnkey die changes among presses by this manufacturer; and (2) the quality of workmanship is sometimes wanting: (a) three lugs on two bushings that came with my progressive press were so brittle they sheared off during regular use (Hornady replaced these with more ductile bushings for free); (b) all bushings in my recently ordered 10-pack had faulty threading that prevented them from screwing past the base of the die. I trust that Hornady's customer service will make it right, but quality assurance is lacking."
