Bow Season

10-4 Thanks for the info. As for the doe in heat pads, I'm old-fashioned and perhaps stubborn. I get turned off by a lot of the voodoo crap marketing!
I look at hunting different then most. When I bow hunted I did mine still hunting . That is what I call hunting. Larry

Larry, that's an awesome way to hunt whitetails, especially in high winds. I had great success on using that method to get within short yards of some nice deer but failed at connecting due to getting busted at the last minute. Still was a great experience and fun. Unlike sitting and waiting for endless hours for the right deer. I don't hunt that way often anymore because I lost that property that made it work for me. Now I just sit and wait endlass hours for the right deer. I love it either way. Had much more fun still hunting tho.

I don't discriminate much during archery season.
A trophy for me with the bow is the venison! Horns come when they come. Not sayin' I won't hold out a bit if a confirmed slammer is in the AO. But those are few & far between in my AO.
I'll rarely look a gift spike in the mouth, if my bow is in hand ;) Especially if it gives me a slam dunk shot. 1.5year old bucks make deeelicious table fare, even better than a fat old doe...

Best of luck to all, hunt hard & be safe!!!

I used the ThermaCELL yesterday afternoon and evening. It was 100 percent effective. I had a fork horn and a decent 8 point 35 to 52 yards away and no problems with odor giving my position away. Had what was probably a 10 point with approximately 8" brow tines out 100 yards or so. He was facing away from me and I had trees obstructing my view. He must have came out of the woods much farther East than the other 2 bucks. He will make a mistake sooner or later.

Just got back from the farm. Checked the one trail cam I set out, and it looks like I'll be letting the spikes pass. At least for a while, anyway... o_O

Set up a stand about 35yds downwind of that trail crossing, just in case he decides to pass by & get breakfast sausage made out of himself...

Thought that I had better update my season! I put in a long, two months. My focus was to arrow something wide. As a result, I let many bucks pass. A month into the season, I had a wide 8 on camera three times and decided that I wanted him and him alone. Unfortunately, I never laid eyes on him, let alone get within 40 or 50 yards. A week from last Sunday I spotted a nice buck bedded up. Had another fellow with me, so I planned the attack. Well, long story short, turns out there were 4 shooter bucks and their doe in the area. Things went wrong and neither of us got a shot. Four days later I had a buck approach that I deemed good enough to harvest with gun season starting in two days. My trying season didn't completely end there. The buck was quartered toward me. To complicate matters, I hit him a little low. He went toward land owned by one of the most arrogant, obnoxious, no you can't go in for your deer Buttheads you will ever meet. The next morning my wife and I go over to look for him. We follow the blood trail to BH's land. I give him a call and have to listen to 10 minutes of crying before finally obtaining permission to go after the buck. He was about 50 yards in laying dead in a jungle. As usual, my wife found him. I fondly call her "dog" :D when I need to track a bow kill. She loves tracking them and is good at it. thought I best not leave a gut pile on BH's land, so we drug him uphill and out of there before field dressing. It was a long and demanding season. Gosh, I sure do love retirement!

Haven't been out as much as usual this year as I've had limited time and other commitments. I did have some game cams out. Here are some pics from my property.
