Bore protection for long term storage

one more for Rig. But I have never used it on a bore. ProGold is another product close to Rig that I use. I need to look at some of my barrels that I have not shot in 5 years and check to see how my light coat of oil is doing as far as rust prevention is going!

CRC "Heavy Duty Corrosion Inhibitor"

Dries to a greasy/waxy yellow film and you'll need a solvent like kerosene or mineral spirits to remove it, but if it works in the distributor cap and fuse blocks (dissimilar metals ... big galvanic corrosion sink) in my GM marine 350 in saltwater for years on end, it ought to protect guns just fine. (Not for continuous saltwater immersion ;-)

That's what I use on guns I don't plan to shoot again for the foreseeable future. Else long-term, I use Rig grease.

I swab bores with a mop and WD-40 corrosion inhibitor. Great stuff, works excellently on external surfaces too. Note, NOT the same thing as regular WD-40.
There used to be a huge test on shotgun world forum by DIY guy i think it was. Go look for it. In summary, that wd-40 corrosion inhibitor was the best out of many tested. It doesn't lube well etc, but good for storage.
