Bore off center in barrel, is this a thing?

New barrel and it came threaded on the muzzle end in 5/8-24 thread. I dont shoot brakes or silencers so I custom ordered a matching diameter stainless thread protector and noticed when its threaded on its not centered. One side matches up seamlessly and on the other side there is about .005 overlap. Is it possible the bore is not exactly in the middle and that end? Will it be an issue?

Best of the best isn't ID/OD concentric.

I just threaded a hand full of 17HMR rifles for suppressors. One barrel was .032 off from ID to OD.

X-Caliber bull barrel. I ordered the matching diameter to sort of make it "blend" but was told it's a crap shoot if it matches. I have a slightly larger thread protector and it looks better so I think I will just use it cause the difference is not seen with it.

I dial in the barrel OD then dial in the ID, never seen one that was the same...

.005 is not bad. I've seen much worse. I've also seen barrels that were better. --Jerry

Shortened a Ruger 10/22 barrel last weekend and threaded the muzzle. Bore was .045" off from O.D.
