Bore life - 6BR... vs dasher, XC, or 47 ?

From having a 6br and what Ive been reading on this site for a while, it seems the br and the dasher are close but the xc and 47 are a little less. Maybe someone with one of them could chime in. You should hopefully get around 2000-2500 out of a good 6br or dasher barrel.

I would hope you could get a LOT more than 2000 to 2500rds out of a 6BR!! I was getting 2300 to 2400rds out of a 260 using it in comps. My current one has close to 3000rds through it shooting 123s close to 3000fps.

As far as the 6XC I had 2300rds though mine and it was still a hammer but I wanted more juice out of it so rechambered it to a 6SLR and shot it another 800rds then made a 284 out of it.

I just shot out my 6BR, 2700 rounds and it went from .2" to 1" groups in about 200 rounds... so 2500 with good accuracy and now it's just a nice varminter...

Sorry Guys you are correct. It would depend on what type of accuracy your are looking at. I gauge mine for tactical shooting and only require .5 or under for my guns. SOoo......... I stand correted!!

I don't think you can put a number on it, but the barrel sure will let you know. I have one old Kreiger fire form barrel with over 2500 rds. through it and it still shoots well. it was set back twice and it will shoot in the ones @ 100 and won a 1K match with a 10 shot 5" group. I have a new Kreiger thats a fire form barrel, it never did shoot. i guess these are extremes but too put a number on it you can't....... jim

My Dasher's current Bartlein barrel (8 twist .236" bore) went from ho-hum .2s to oh-no .4s after 1,140 rds. Cut off 1" and rechambered and it's ho-humming again.

Already have a new Douglas tube ready to ream in Jan/Feb, though.

Jim, it is a 5R and we just kissed the crown, didn't do a cutoff.

It's been a good one, never really copper-fouled. The throat cracked up, but l do run it on the fast end and shooting long F-class strings in the California heat doesn't help things.

I agree with Dave Berg. Every 6BR barrel that I've had lost it's edge at about the 1200 round mark. That's for a competition rifle where .1's are necessary to place in the top three at matches. If you want to win you have to pay the Piper.

I am on my first dasher barrel and at 1800+ it is still shooting well under 1/2 MOA. That is shooting fclass 20+ shot strings
