Borden TPE put on a show at the DOME Sunday evening. Lee Pettross, Shayne, Scott Glover, Junebug, Steve Perry, Sam, Cherry, and one other new visitor. Steve Perry and three of his friends stopped by on their return from Dead Zero.
Wind was awful. Cedars at 800 were waving back at us. I had watched and spotted all afternoon. Junebug and Lee wore the hostage taker out at 600 then moved to 800. Lee was shooting Dasher and 6.5 Creedmore and Bug was shooting his Alex Wheeler rifle in 6 BRAI. They moved to 800.
After they had took on Ole Chuckie in the wind, there was a pause in the action. I had not shot yet and I told Junebug to spot me at 800. First shot was high left at 10:00. I dialed it in and second shot was all over the orange bullseye. Third shot I told Lee and Bug to watch Chuckie. First shot Center Chest. I stood up and said I am DONE. Second shot I told Lee to crawl under the Borden TPE. Told him to hold dead center chest. Chuckie rolled back. Lee got up but I said Oh no, not finished. Try a third shot. Lee sat back down and touched the jewell again. Chuckie rolled back. Then I said Scott I am trying to hook you on a Dasher. Come on over. Scott said I'm already hooked. I told him to hold dead center chest. He touched off #4 shot from the Borden TPE and Ole Chuckie rolled back. Shoot one more Scott. #5 rolled Chuckie back again.
So, 5 shots by three shooters and all hits at 800 yd on poor Ole Chuckie. Not bad for Borden TPE #003. Serial # tells us this action was the 3rd TPE made in the year 2000. Jim Borden is wanting me to upgrade to one of his new actions. I am eventually going to have to try his new BRMXD that Erik Cortina - Pro Shooter shoots. Cortina and several members of Team USA won the F-Class World Champlionship last fall in South Africa shooting Borden actions.
My rifle was bought from Joel Kendrick who won the IBS 600 Nationals and the seasonal 600 yd points race with this rifle. I do have a new barrel on it.
I believe Terry Brady won a 600 yard Nationals with his TPE also. Maybe Terry will chime in and tell us about it.
Joel's and Terry's rifles were featured in a Guns of the Week article on Accurate Shooter back in the 2007-2008 time frame. The gun of the week write-ups are still posted on Accurate Shooter.com
