Bonanza bench rest seater chamber sleeve issue

I looked down a Forester replacement sleeve recently to see a rough shoulder, maybe machine marks. I asked Forster about if it would effect consistent seating., they said no. What say you? They said it's not hardened, so I was thinking chucking a case with lapping compound to see if that would help.

The sleeve holds the bullet straight til it gets to the seating stem on the sleeve dies I'm familar with.

Try it “as is” then modify it as you proposed then compare the results.

The die doesn't modify the shoulder of the case, so it's a non-issue. Concentricity and minimal clearance for bullets and brass are much larger concerns. Forster is a quality operation - I'm surprised they didn't replace it just they got sloppy with their QC.

they asked for a pic but it was hard to get a clear pic. I can see machine marks but can't feel them with a pic. Guess it's good.

Shud come apart if you really want to look at it or get a good pic, seems to me they have a retainer ring in there of some form, been many years since I took one apart. But, all that sleeve does is guide the case and bullet in a straight line, about all they are is different lengths and ID's to suit a cartridge size/caliber.

the retainer ring keeps the sleeve in the body after the top is threaded on the body. But I get the case being straight part.... even if the case isn't up against the shoulder in the sleeve, you would just turn down the stem.
