Bob jones peep sights

Is anyone familiar enough with the bob jones sights to explain a couple things to me . .. Are the lenses just to make up for a shortcoming in your prescription glasses or do the aid in focusing above and beyond that ? And what about the colored filter lenses ?

Use one on my AR service rifle and match AR rifle and now my front sight is in focus. Works 200 to 600 yards. I only use reading glasses so don't need prescription for distance so I can't comment on that. Best thing is to message him and tell him your concerns and he should fix you up and check his website for more information. I need to get one for my Garand next.

My match rifle has an adjustable diopter and I think it works better with the lens.

With an AR and iron sights with NM rear aperture the rule of thumb is that you want to stack +0.75 diopter onto your normal distance Rx. This will help you focus the front post crisply while still maintaining a decent target. Tune the rear aperture size to be as small as possible while being able to see clearly (no cobwebs) in overcast or morning conditions.

So my distance Rx in my right eye is +0.5. When firing iron sight AR (20” service rifle with rifle length gas system) I use a +1.0 to +1.25 depending on what I am doing. Indoor smallbore or air rifle with Mar177 or AiR15 is +1.0. 100 - 1000 yds is +1.25.
