Bluing

I am looking for information on building LP gas heating elements for bluing tanks. Any sources for diagrams or helpful hints would be greatly appreciated.

By the time you buy the pipe, end caps, and drill all the holes that are needed, you would be better off buying them from Brownells.

Brownells 3/4" Hot Water Cleaning Tank Burner- PIPE ONLY,,,, $116.99 Brownells Bluing Tank Burner-,,,PIPE ONLY,,,,, $155.95 I made my own for a lot less! Haven't a half hour in each one + pipe. McMaster-Carr has mixers and other NG/propane parts alot cheaper than Brownells.

SSROUFE here, I ended up going with hot water, Belgian blue for my first attempt. I've just been experimenting with small projects on the kitchen stove, So far so good.
Now I’m setting up with LP gas, I went ahead with Brownells 40" single burner pipe as my proto type.
Building my stand, my question is how far above the flame should the tank be to get the proper heat and adjustment.
