Blue printing a Tikka action.

Wondering type question:

Has anyone ever blue printed a Tikka action? I was wondering how close they found the corrections necessary and any problems in comparison to say the same work on a Rem 700 action

Anyone ever set up a Tikka action with custom barrel for 1000yd competition and if so, how competitive was the rifle?

I've sorta been wondering how competitive a T3 would be versus one of the custom action rifles in competition?

:(Crickets!! I am also waiting for some input on this. I like my older and newer Tikkas but that's just my opinion and doesn't mean much in the big picture. What the smiths say, would matter. Anybody?:) Dusty?

My first match rifle was a Tikka 595 somewhat trued by MT Guns when they were still in business Mark Chesebro was their gunsmith and he has his own company now - www.chesebrorifles.com. Frankly it did not need much they are so well made. Bolts lugs were making full contact from the factory and not uncommon. I had it chambered in 6XC and was my XC rifle initially. I shot a 1000 yd. match on a lark and it shot REALLY well that day! So of course I sold it to finance a single shot rifle that did not shoot any better than that Tikka. I love 'em and would have another in a heart beat. Master Class Stocks made the stock and I have a couple more of those now.

I may have seen that gun for sale. Was it a master Sporter out of California?

I do tikkas all the time (done a t3 just today) the trick on tikkas is facing off the front of the action to get rid of that goofy taper and put a real barrel shoulder on it. Threads are always straight and nice not done with a 30yr old rusted tap. Then i put a believable recoil lug on there. Lugs never need lapping and the boltface have always been true. Already got a good extractor. They turn out to be the nicest actions out there in my opinion. Best out of the box for sure.

These are also my findings. I made a jig to hold the action like a Remington, and I use a bushing and ground rod, like a Remington jig.

Heres what it looks like faced off to accept a believable barrel shank

I needed one for a varmint rifle and could not find one. I ended up having to make one. Used a boring head on the mill to cut the radius, the rest is pretty self explanatory.
