Blooper

Reading an article from a popular writer about a prestigous scope maker I came across this statement:

'The slimmer the riflescope, the lower it can be mounted to minimize parallax.'

Huh???

I'd guess he was trying to say something about a better cheek weld with a non-AO scope, but... yikes.

That's correct, but not the parallax of the scope itself; the parallax of the rifle as a whole. In other words the angle of inclination between the line-of-sight of the bore vs. the line of sight of the scope. Make sense? Picture lines extending from the centerlines of the scope and barrel bore. The angle between these is the parallax. Minimizing this means that the POA and POI will be as close as possible under the broadest range of conditions, if I understand correctly.
