Bipod sling swivel adopter for Winchester Model 70 Super Grade

I'm looking to mount a bipod on my Winchester Model 70 Super Grade. Purchased Atlas bipod with picatinny mount and Caldwell Pic Rail Adapter (156716) but the sling swivel on the Model 70 is slightly countersunk in the stock so the pin won't align to mount the adapter. I've ordered a barrel mount but wondering if anyone has installed an adapter on their Model 70 Super Grade for a bipod and if so, please let me know how you did it! Thank you.

Your sling stud probably has a counter-sunk nut in the forearm under the barrel. You might try to loosen it maybe a turn or two to get the stud elevation to align with the adapter pin. If you can get the clearance, you can perhaps remove the stud and replace it with a small washer under the stud in the hole for stability. It appears that tightening the mount base itself will place enough leverage against the stock for security.
