We had a great two day championship match at Big Piney July 8 and 9. The weather turned out to be really pleasant compared to the usual July weather in Missouri. The only rain we had all weekend was a light sprinkle early on Sunday even though it looked rainy most of the day Saturday.
The wind was not nearly as much of an issue as it usually is at Big Piney and the scores reflect that. It was a bit trickier on Sunday than Saturday. The wind did turn things into something of an X count race in Open with the top 3 Open shooters all dropping only a single point all weekend with X count determining the order, although Dannie Wake who had the high X count of the match at 72 did not end up in the top 3. Also the shooter with the second highest X count (70) was not an Open shooter, but Israel Perry, an FTR shooter.
Also of note we had an 11 year old Junior shooter who finished 8th in Open (on her birthday no less!) including two cleans and dropping only 4 points all weekend. Congratulations Shiloh!!
We had shooters who made long drives from as far as Louisiana, Texas, and Kentucky as well as new local shooters. We enjoyed having them shoot with us and hope they had a good time that made the trip worthwhile.
All in all it was a fun weekend with pleasant weather, great shooting, and two great meals with
a good time had by all. Thanks to all who attended and everyone who helped with setting up,
taking down, and the score shack crew for not only helping keep things running and scoring the match, but also for supplying all the great food for our meals!
