Big Horn Armory

Anyone here have any experience with lever guns from Big Horn Armory? They sell pretty expensive stuff.

I've had a model 89 for about 10y now. 500sw mag 20". its one of the best guns I've ever purchased.

the design of course is john browning, but when you make the receiver out of 17-4 stainless, its about as bulletproof as a lever action can be (at least right now). I've shot 8 - 900 rounds of nuclear handloads out of mine (no way I'm going to tell anyone the load data) and the action is just as tight as the day i took delivery. If anything its a bit stiff, you have to operate the lever with some authority. fired cases glide right back into the chamber, and the brass is well within spec after 4 or 5 reloads.

I'm super happy with the workmanship, and the customer service has been responsive. the only time i called them was when i was working up my original loads (asking them how hard i could push the gun) and they were very helpful.

Have handled a couple, nice equipment.

Always did think the 500SW was a better rifle cartridge than a pistol.
Wish Ruger would up their game since acquiring Marlin and update with some new cartridges, namely 480 Ruger, I have takers for 3-4 with not even mentioning price.

I'm thinking of adding a 454 Casull lever gun and looking for something better than a R92 Rossi. Not too many choices out there that I know of. Ruger/Marlin should offer one.

Got a Big Horn .500 S&W today. It's a really nice rifle. Going to order a Casull next. Would a brake be a good idea for a Casull?

to be honest, I don't think a brake is needed on the 500SW. but truth be told, I shoot bullets on the lighter side of the spectrum. 275-325-350.

Even at max velocities, with Heavy bullets I don't think recoil with the casull will be an issue.

Thanks. That's kind of what I thought. I probably won't have the muzzle threaded.
