Warning:
Two relatively new forum accounts have been banned: Dej, and Ascollyn
These accounts, which we believe were the same person, was responding to WTB listings and commenting on classifieds. If you have received ANY communication from these accounts do NOT send money! If you did get a mailing address, we suggest you try to verify that and send the information to law enforcement.
Regarding other new members who respond to WTB listings:
1. Be Very Careful. Start off with heathly suspicion.
2. Before conducting a transaction, ask for photos that can ONLY be created from scratch, contemporaneously. For example, tell the guy "Send a photo with a baseball hat on the end of the barrel".
3. Check the user feedback. If there is none... be very wary.
4. I would personally not spend more than $50 without talking to the person on the phone and verifying with "custom" photos and references.
We do what we can to prevent this kind of scammer. But remember you are the first (and last) line of defense. If a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is.
