Better trigger for Remington 513-T

I don’t believe there is any upgrade available. Only option may be a rework, but they will never be a great trigger.
Is the factory trigger complicated, or can a competent smith do the job~? The trigger is already very crisp, just heavy.

It’s a simple trigger mechanism, but is pot metal. Appreciate it for its age and that it’s a 513-T, not an Anschutz..

^^
I had one and tested 7 different sears to get a decent pull. No kidding. That was a long time ago. Not much can be done and if you start filing, make sure you have access to extra parts

At the time the 513-T was marketed it was primarily an entry level rifle for Gallery shooting (3 or 4 position indoor). IIRC at that time the rules called for a minimum 3 lb trigger pull and most 513-T would achieve that weight of pull. Actually really good scores can be shot with a 3 lb pull it just takes a bit of practice and concentration.
If you do decide to stone it be careful not to change the sear angle. There is also another problem with stoning the trigger and that is that the trigger is only surface hardened and if you go past the hardened surface there will be significant wear very quickly and you could end up with an unrelable and potentially dangerous trigger.

I didn't like the trigger weight in my 10-22 Squirl rifle. Like you I wanted it lighter. I solved the problem by squeezing a folded up wash cloth with my trigger finger for about 2 weeks. Now the 3.5 lb trigger is ok.

They are not pot metal. They are a solid stamped metal that has been surfaced hardened.

Pot metal definition - Pot metal is an alloy of low-melting point metals that manufacturers use to make fast, inexpensive castings.

My brother the gunsmith did my 513T trigger years ago. The pull weight is a little over 2#. It's no BnA or Jewell but pretty good for what it is. Way better than when I first bought it. As I mentioned offline, a competent gunsmith can do a pretty good job on them. Problem is there aren't very many full-service gunsmiths out there and there not always competent

Mix up with a 788….

Try a little Moly-Slide on the sear.
