Best velcro (or other method) to attach mirage shield

I’ve tried a ton and really love the Joann’s (off the roll) Velcro. In fact it’s so much cheaper than buying other Velcro’s anywhere else that I finally just bought a roll and I’ve been good for a while. It’s also been just about the best at no heat slipping on me. Oddly enough I had the worst heat slippage with the Velcro brand extreme outdoor one. Just my experience, others will obviously vary.

Not sure what you are mounting but I've seen nothing to match that velcro that is supplied with E-Z PASS.
STRONG!
No clue who the maker is.

This is one type I tried. ^^^^

Question for folks, why mount it to the barrel and not the bottom of the scope objective bell? I was thinking about mounting it to the scope to avoid any heat-slipping of the velcro or potential (but unlikely) effects on barrel harmonics

Not sure how you would attach from scope bell- the shield should run full length of barrel. Mounting it to the scope would create worse harmonics IMO. Any barrel harmonics are compensated if you always shoot with the shield in place.

Yup . It is a F class thing . Try shooting 5 sighters , and twenty shots for record in twenty minutes , when it's 110 degrees , and see how long your mirage shield Velcro stays in place . I have to clean the barrel and install new Velcro two or three times a year . Welcome to Ben Avery ....:D

I bought a 2 roll kit from wally world.
No problem so far. Redo as needed.
.... My rear attachment point is ahead of the chamber several inches. The shield sticks under scope freely.

I really don't see attaching it to the scope would be much of a problem but my scope cost too much for me to mess it up with sticky !

My experiments don't show any change in harmonics with the shield attached to the scope bell. I guess I'm cheap, lol. I always use an old Venetian blind slat that I tape to the scope bell. It reaches the full length of the barrel and when experimenting in conditions where mirage wasn't a problem, I have found no difference in POI or group size with and without it attached to the scope bell. I guess it's a case of YMMV.
