Best twist for .243 w/75-115 gr bullets?

If there is such a twist that'll cover that wide a range?

Looking for an "all around" rifle that'll punch long range paper, kill long range varmints, etc.

Thanks for the help.

an 8" twist will shoot the heavier bullets easier but may not stabilize the 115's at all or under all contitions. If you went to barlitin and got a 7.5-7.75 you would be better off. Others have had luck with the 115's in a 243 8" and long barrel. with a 7" twist and hot loads you might blow up alot of the light bullets.

Thanks, Robbor. I looked at a Rem 40XB single shot in .243 today in my local shop, I think it has a 10 twist barrel. Would that work for the "meat" of 6mm bullets?

I always check berger bullets site for twist recs. They list up to 90 gr as good for 10" twist, they also have a 95 that is 9 twist so there is posibility you could get some 95-100gr bullets to group if shot fast but is not a sure thing. Id recomend you decide what and how you want to shoot then get a barrel with a appropriate twist. By switching brands you could probably find advertised trists of either 9 or 10" but you will not find anything with a faster twist without going custom. About the best deal I know of i getting a Lothar Walther prefit barrel for a savage for $300,normal savage small shank). I really dont see any benefit in switching bullets and throwing off your zero, drop, windage. Id say you are better off sticking with one bullet and learning the drop. If I had 900 burning a hole in my pocket id be ordering a savage 12 F 6.5 x 284 rather than a 40x for a bench gun.
