Spray a little on a microfiber cloth, wipe on the clear finish. Once a year, maybe twice where the rifle rides in the bags. Very slick and very easy. Never needed stock tape.I have several benchrest rifles with walnut and laminated wood stocks. Would appreciate suggestions on best product to wax them with. Purpose being to protect them, improve appearance and allow them to ride well in leather bags.
Thanks much!!
Luckily I have several lifetimes worth but out of curiosity I checked and amazon still has the Johnson's. Not sure if it is the same thing though.Johnson's paste wax was good, but is no longer manufactured. Minwax has the same properties as Johnson's that I can tell. I use it just the same, on blue steel and wood. Buff lightly for a tacky, dull finish, or polish to a smooth high shine.
This is what I use on my benchrest rifles. It making them slick and shiny.Spray a little on a microfiber cloth, wipe on the clear finish. Once a year, maybe twice where the rifle rides in the bags. Very slick and very easy. Never needed stock tape.

The ceramic wax is very good, first I wipe the stock down with alcohol to get all the sweat and grime off then if needed I’ll add a touch of ceramic .
That’s exactly right. At first I was using a bit too much and one day the stock felt sticky and started to loose that nice break away. Thanks guys!! I suggested it to you, you tried it and reporting great results.
We owe our thanks to Jerry White @jvw2008 he used mothers ceramic on a LRB I painted and polished the rails and rudder on.That’s exactly right. At first I was using a bit too much and one day the stock felt sticky and started to loose that nice break away.
After call to Brett I’m squared away and cleaning with alcohol on a shop towel prior to wax.
Thx again bro
