Best rim fire rifle for F-open.

Killough Shooting sports has some used Benchrest rifles, also Benchrest central has a for sale section. Those would be the places I would start. You are not going to want a position stock, so finding a benchrest rifle would be the best thing to get started with.

Killough is selling Anschutz barreled actions, he could get one put in a BR stock for you as well I am sure.

Annie or (Blieker BIG bucks). In all honesty you could have one built for roughly the same $ or used and save more $. Rimfire is as much about the AMMO as the gun itself. KSS also sell an Action/Stock combo. Dan and Dawn are GOOD people.

If you are shooting off a rest... http://www.championshooters.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&view=productdetails&virtuemart_product_id=2740&virtuemart_category_id=183&Itemid=111

If you want to shoot off a bipod buy the more expensive position stock. I tried a bipod mounted in the rail of a 1913 for ammo testing and shot awful, but that was probably just me. I shoot my best in a sling with a rest under my wrist (wonder if that would be legal in F-Class?)

Another option - but not out of the box... Pick up one of the old Remington 40x .22s. You'll see them advertised ~ $800 - $1,200 (some are CMP marked some not). Price depends on condition and whether have the Olympic sights. They shoot really really good. I have two a 40x with regular target barrel and 40xb with heavy barrel. The best thing is they are a Remington 700 footprint. If you want to change out the wood stock, they pretty much drop into any of the aftermarket 700 stocks - get a bdl model, pick up the 700 bottom metal (discard mag box) and they bolt right in. Receiver is already drilled and tapped so all of the pic rails screw right on and up grade trigger if you want...

Might want to take a look at an Anschutz 64MPR. Not sure if you are wanting to shoot off a Bench or prone positions. But this rifle is adaptable to either (right out of the box - just add a bipod as it comes with a channel in the stock) which is the reason it's called an "MPR" "Multi Purpose Rifle." With the right ammo, they shoot extremely accurately. At least mine does using Federal Ultra Match UM22 and likes Lapua ammo as well. All others aren't that accurate as I've tested them all over the years. My Annie has out-shot some more expensive rifles in local competitions. Just a thought.

Pretty hard to beat a Savage MK-II. I prefer the MK-II-TR version due to the stock configuration. Find the ammo it likes and it will reward you with little groups. Mine shoots 1/2 min with Aquila match.

No...it's not an Anschutz or a 40X but it will only set you back around $475.

I love mine. Great for F-T/R wind practice at 200 yards with a good bipod. :)

I have a Master classification in F-Class RF.

To shoot effectively in the new F-Class RF competition you will need a gun, rest and ammo combination that is of benchrest quality. The gun/ammo should be capable of .2's at 50 yards and .6's at 100 yards ( I know the 100 yard 10 ring is 1" but you will need extra accuracy to deal with wind changes). To do this you will need an exceptional gun and I have found that it serves me to use my best benchrest guns with tuners and tested and sorted ammo.

A benchrest stock is what I use although a position stock will also do fine. The"trick" is not the stock, but getting a gun and ammo that is capable of shooting a perfect score if you do your part.

One of the rifles built with a custom action/barrel listed by Killough or listed on Benchrest Central should work as would an Anschutz BR or position Model 54. There are other such as the Walther KK series that are great rifles as is the Blieker. Don't be afraid of used guns that come from know benchrest competitors or reputable benchrest suppliers such as Killough.

Then the ammo hunt begins...... I have been fortunate to find lots of Eley Match ammo that shoot very well and then I weight sort it to refine that accuracy.
