Best recoil pads ?

Looking for a nice pad for a hunting rifle with the best of recoil reduction. Whats new out there?

I recently put a Pachmeyer decelerator on a 300 WM and it works great.

My wife has a 6 lb 243 that we put a limb saver on and it sticks to the floor evertime you set the gun down. Not sure what happened to the Limbsaver but my experience is, they do work but the sticky recoil pad picking up debris is a pain.

I second the Limbsaver. Just put one on a12ga slug gun and it really helps. I don't know about it picking up stuff, but for me the inconvenience of cleaning off the pad is worth it.

My second choice would be the old Pachmayr triple magnum, but not sure if it's still available.

Another vote for the limbsaver. I put one on my 300WM and I swear it feels like a 308 as far as recoil. Granted there’s still more muzzle hop but that’s a bit off topic

I have experienced the same thing. Call them up, and they should replace it for you.

I put Pachmeyer pads on all of my stocks. I’ve never had one go “sticky”. I’ve had to replace the Limbsavers that came on used guns I bought because they were sticky when I got them. A couple of guns I inherited from my father have Pachmeyers. They’re pretty old, maybe 50 years old and they’re still in good shape. Maybe that’s why I like them so much. Just looking at one brings back good memories.;)

I’ve had the same issue with limbsaver pads getting stick and deteriorating. Pachmeyer decelorater pads seem to be the ticket. I use the grind to fit mostly. Very nice pad

Sticky Limbsaver was a supplier default product. Limbsaver will replace them.

Remove the recoil pad, take a picture of the recoil pad and the inside of the recoil pad as some have model numbers.

You should call Limbsaver. They will give you the gentleman's email address to send the pictures to, and after they receive the pics, they will send you a new recoil pad.

good luck

+1 on limbsaver , I have one on a short shotgun that with out it you can't shoot but about 5 times and you will be bruised... With it you can shoot a box or more no problem.... They work very well and you can call them and they will even give you the number you need to order it from Amazon... Although my local Walmart has them for $19.99 and I don't know of any place that cheap for the slip on version...

I put the hiviz xcoil on my 3gun shotty. It seems to help a bit. No matter what it is still a m2 type action and slugs are brutal.

I have installed and used over 50 pads ( of all kinds) for friends and customers. The somewhat new Pachmeyer Model XLT Ultra Soft Trap is by far the best and most durable I have seen and used. One drawback you MUST store your gun barrel down or the pad will be smashed in a short period of time.

Old age. They will deteriorate over time. Time for a new one.

The softest pad out there is the Gooey Pad from trapdude.com. It's pretty much the standard out west for trap shooters.

I used to shoot with George and Mike, good people.....

All my rifles / shotguns wear Gooey pads...
