Best rear bag???

Well guys I'm in the market to upgrade my rear bag. Can't get much worse then my current one(a Caldwell cheapo).
I wanna get the best, so I am looking at a minigater but would like to hear you guys' opinions.

What stock? There are different bag specifications, within the same brand, and model. In order to make an intelligent suggestion, someone would have to know the stock make and probably model. The reason that I asked about shooting style is that shooters who use different styles often prefer different bags.

Right now I have the stock HS from the LRPV but am gonna order either a McM MBR or the Stockade Long Range BR.

What's the butt's bottom width of those two stocks?

It's going to make a difference in the opening between the rear bag's ears of the bag you eventually use.

You'll want to order one with an opening 1/8" LESS than the butt's width. Edgewood has three different widths.

Not saying that you are wrong, but I like my stock to ride on the inside of the ears with 2 places touching rather than it sitting on the bottom. Dwight Scott suggested this to me many years ago.

EDITOR: Butch–what you say makes sense. Jason Baney likes to do the same thing–have the left and right “corners” of the bottom flat floating slightly above the stitching. But if the flat is of typical width these days (for a “coffin” style stock profile), one will still need greater separation between the bottoms of the ears and that’s what we intended to illustrate. Thanks for your insight!

Having the flat bottom of the butt resting on the flat space between the ears is almost guaranteed to give you on-target vertical. The problem stems from the different angles of the butts flat (f-r) and the angle of the flat between the bags ears (f-r). As the gun moves rearward in recoil, this relationship changes as does the point-of-contact between the butt and the flat between the ears on the bag.

Well Im gonna go with the Stockade and it has a 5/8" bottom, so which space would I want since Outdoorsman said you don't want it to touch the bottom?

Go back and reread the entire prior response.

Give Edgewood a call: http://www.edgebag.com/catalog.html#newpricing They'll give you a recommendation for the Mini.

5/8"-1/8"=4/8" or 1/2". Edgewood's offered stitching between ears are: Narrow= 3/16", Standard= 3/8", Wide= 3/4".

You might have to order custom stitching or go with the Standard 3/8".

Edgewood, Original Gator, Tall, Regular Stitch.

That is what worked well with my Stockade BR stock.
I still use the that rear bag but no longer use a Stockade stock.
