Best reamer for VLD bullets, in a 6.5-284 win.

I'm building a hunting rifle for my cousin and he is set on a 6.5, He has a short action rem 700. and plans on using Berger 140 VLD's. I'm wondering who, if anyone, makes a reamer that would allow me to set the bullets deep enough to load in the mag-well but not have huge amounts of jump.
If I cannot I am thinking of going with the 260 AI.
Again, is anybody able to point me to a good reamer for the VLDs in this Caliber?

Call Dave Kiff at PT&G and tell him what you want, make of brass to be used, length of mag the round must fit in, primary bullet to be used, and he can make a reamer to do exactly what you want it to do.

If you get the Wyatts box and follower, you can go with the 260AI without too much fuss. I don't know if the others are any shorter- I had Kiff grind my reamer to throat what would fit my actions etc. I have both the 6.5-284 and 260AI reamers. I personally, wouldn't build the 6.5-284 on a short action. I think you need a full 3" to make it sing.

Problem solved! Bought a cheap Savage long action. Guess that 700 is going to have to turn into a 6SLR....

Nice choice. I use a Savage 12 short action for my 6.5-284 build. The savage short action is more of a mid length but its still to small. The rem short action is IMO way too small for the long 6.5-284 round. My OAL is 3.24 and It took some modding to eject a live round. I tried everything but could not get a mag to feed correctly, the VLD bullet was just too long so I just made it a single shot and welded the bottom of the action closed. Its a great shooter though, 1/4MOA. I've been keeping an eye out for a cheap shot-out savage long action for sale so I can just use the action. Be sure to post pictures and results when you are done.

Will do bugsplat. This is going to be a Varmint/hunting rifle, it'll get a #6 contour krieger, should be a fun little project. Looking forward to getting the barrel.
