Best Leupold tactical scope for M1A and long range?

I'm getting a Leupold scope that will go on a tactical M1A. Which one should I get? I will be testing it from 100 to 600yds, maybe 1000. Price is no object. From a tactical shooter's perspective, what would you get.

I've got a modern day chassis system that was sent to me for T&E. I did a preliminary test with my Bassett scope mount and Zeiss Conquest and the results were great! I got eight consecutive 5-shot groups under 1.5" with 3 different batches/loads of ammo. I work 1 mile from Leupold and the are loaning me any scope I want for 60 days, so I'm not interested in other brands for that very important reason.

Might be folks need a bit more information on what you are trying to do. 100-600 yd, maybe 1000? From what I can gather you have 2 choices depending on primary application. Mark 4's come to mind. If the irons on the rifle are a non issue then the ER/T in M5 configuration (FFP) seems reasonable (4.5-~14x). If you want an option for iron back ups the LR/T in 16x might be worth consideration 40mm). They are M1 configuration and I don't believe you have a mil/mil option with those, why I have no idea.

I can say that if you start raising the rings to accommodate irons you will have some check weld issues to deal with.

Honestly I would go with one of the higher magnification scopes. Take advantage of the accuracy of the rifle and don't short cut it with a 1.5-5 or 2.5-8 or a 3.5-10. Go at least one level higher in the top end and move up to a MK5 or higher scope. Order it with the features you like best and then report on it

Those mk 6 scopes are great and I know a guy who sells them cheap.

They're also smaller and handier than the mk 8's

PM me if you're interested in one of them.
