Best Front Rest...

I'm going to buy a front rest soon, but am undecided as to which one.
I've been considering the Sinclair, because of the nearly $300 price difference, but like the JJ Industries, and the Randolph Machine Inc., as well.
Any opinions on this subject?

Michael,
Clue us in on what you intend to use the rest for. I can only speak about the Sinclair and JJ Rest. I have shooting buddies who use and shoot both. Both are nice rests. But the JJ is clearly (IMHO) the finer quality and is more of a "precision" rest. There are many other rest makers who make comparable rests to the Sinclair. I don't compete so I'd rather put my money into a nicer scope. But if money were no object, I'd definitely have me a JJ and another newer style rest that you see used in long distance shooting. But the JJ gets my vote for Benchest shooting.

I'll be shooting rimfire Benchrest. ARA, mostly.
My current gun is a Kidd 10/22 in a Magpul X-22 stock, but if all goes well I'd like to move on to a better rifle.
I just filled an Edgewood bag with sand, yesterday, so now I need a good front rest.

I also like the JJ rest. Some prefer the Joy Stick type of front rest like the Seb or the Farley. My suggestion is to try both types before you buy....don't ask me how I know :(

Ive had several brands and styles myself. I'm currently using a JJ myself. But if I had it to do over I'd kept my Sinclair competition rest and not bought the JJ. Reason being one is ergonomics of the Sinclair is really nice, everything is right there near your hand without having to reach out to make a wind age adjustment. Second is weight, the Sinclair probably is half again heavier than the JJ rest. You don't need your rest moving when pushing a HG back to battery and I felt as the weight of the Sinclair was heavy enough to keep it in place. The JJ I had to retrofit a base plate to the ret so there be enough weight to keep it from moving.
Some worry about the pivot of the Sinclair binding up the rifle, but think bout it. If you set one up square whether it's on a pivot or the classic slide back and forth style both will pinch the rifle to an extent. Nice thing though about the pivot style at least the top will somewhat rotate as you adjust for left to right. Where the slide tops just slides in a straight line and will actually pinch the rifle in the bags more so.

That's my opinion of owning and using both.

I solved my problem this morning. I ordered a Pappas One Piece rest from Killough.

Smart move! You'll like the Pappas. Takes a bit to get used to using it as compared to a conventional style rest, especially for ARA Rimfire Competition. Now do that rest justice and find what ammo works best in your rifle. And if need be and if you can afford it, consider buying a bolt fun .22 Rimfire such as an Anschutz or Rem 40X. Those are the rifles I've shot and have seen shoot exceptionally well using a Pappas and win competitions. Most of all, enjoy that rest as IMHO, you made a great choice.

I know it sounds like I'm bragging, and I apologize, but along with the Pappas One Piece, I ordered a new Gorham built rimfire benchrest gun.
It'll have a Stiller 2500X action, Shilen 4 groove ratchet barrel with tuner, McMillan Edge BR stock, a 2 oz. Jewell trigger, Kelbly rings, and a Nightforce Competition Lightweight scope with dot.
At 69 years old I thought "what the heck" I might as well go out with a bang (pun intended). :)
