Currently I'm using acetone but looking for something a little less "rough" on hands and gloves. 
BTW, it's for metal prep for bluing, parkerizing and such.

Can't think of a better de-greaser than MEK. That said, I can't think of a more dangerous de-greaser than MEK.
Anything good you have to take precautions with. No matter what chemical I was using, gloves would be my first requirement. Then, adequate ventilation.
No one has any idea what the long term exposure is to the various chemicals we use everyday. Protect yourself at all costs.
MEK does the job but take the proper precautions.

Be very careful with that denatured alcohol. It is absorb threw the skin very fast and is extremely hard on your organs. We use it at work for cleaning electrical cables. We have all used gloves for years after finding out. Not trying to be a smart butt just don't like seeing pepole getting sick.

I use brake cleaner in a spray can. Works great and leaves no residue. ;D
