Best currently available non-joystick Front Rest?

The D.R. Greenlaw is nice for a cheap rest. I have one of his complete rests, Not just a top. Also, Randolph Machine is a very nice rest to.

I had a JJ Loh and that is a fine rest (should have never sold). I now have a Sinclair and it’s not on the same level as the JJ was. It is definitely adequate but just different levels of precision in my mind.

I’ve been happy with the Randolph. I like the layout and ease of use for the controls. Maybe not joystick quick but very good. I have a bit of hard return and have trended to longer stocks. A little more weight and extend the controls back a bit and it would be even better.

Which Randolph top is best?

The adjustable one is the most versatile. That's the one I use most, with my benchrest stocks. But for sporter rifles with a narrow frore end, I use the "bag" top with a narrow bag, and you can of course get bags in varying widths.

I have 2 of the Mk I tops, one for 3” and one for sporter style. Never tried the Mk II.

I have both the Sinclair and a Randolph with both the Mark I & II tops. I use the sinclair and my wife uses the randolph with the mark II rest top. Easy to use for her.

Belton45 hit the nail on the head! The JJ is above & beyond the Sinclair as far as precision machining goes.

Thankfully this (JJ) was my first rest. and I didn't cheap out when I started.
