Best 200 yd bench rest caliber

I'm thinking of buying a bench rest rifle to shoot in a local match. I've been to the shoot several times and ive shot in it some with other people's rifles.. But I would like to have my own.
It's a 200 yd best 3 shot group, no matter where your group is on the target they just measure the group itself.

Most of the guys that shoot and are competetive shoot 6ppc or 6br cooper's, Dakotas, and some built guns.

There rules are anything centerfire and the gun has to have a sporter type barrel, I'm not sure on the exact size but I can find out. Those are really the only 2 rules they told me about.

I know someone on this forum can help me with this and I'm very green in match shooting so I don't really know anything about it. I'm just wondering which caliber would be best to go with.

Thanks in advance.

6PPC..my good friend shot a .093 - .096(it is being officially scored for the world record right now). 5-shot group with his PPc this summer. Doesn't get much small...

How many targets are shot in the agg ( duration of the event)? Are flags used? Some parameters I would look for: 1/ Ability to install a good aftermarket trigger (Remington gets my vote because of their fire control design) 2/ Stock fore end should be flat and as wide as possible (ala 3" BR stocks) 3/ Heaviest contour barrel permitted 4/ a top quality scope that you know holds POA 5/ 6 BR standard neck with bbl. twist that optimizes stability of a good custom ~68 gr. bullet like Barts. ( 6 PPC's are too much of a thoroughbred for the average shooter - neck diameters run the whole spectrum, to shoot well I believe they are more sensitive to keep in tune- a much larger learning curve involved)
You might try visiting a UBR match at Gallatin, TN to see what those competitors use. See Ultimatebenchrest.com

Several of the names on the list used the 6 PPC without a doubt. A couple may have been shooting another cartridge???? I don't see the cartridge listed.

6ppc hands down, the most accurate cartridge in the world 100-200-300. Check out the grand aggs for national events. That is shooting a whole lot of bullets (150 I think) and a lot of times the agg is under .250 pretty tough to beat consistency when talking accuracy!
