Berger packaging

Over the years I have opened many 500 round boxes of Berger Bullets. It was a small pain in the A to cut the clear tape untwist the oversized bag and get to the goodies inside. Well no more to my dismay a friend opened one yesterday and found the bullets rolling loosely in a sealed package. I'm sure a bean counter figured it's cheaper to package this way. After many years of testing bullets are like fruit and can be damaged but not seen. Please return to the old ways it is far Superior!
I will not purchase anything in a 500 count until they pack as before.
I'm hoping they didn't remove the folded foam in the 100 count now!!!

The new 100ct suck too. The “pop” tab to open them is smaller and tighter. I have bad hands and now have to use a screwdriver on them to open. My new 184s have a smaller and thinner piece of foam than my older 180s did.

The last lot of 224 80g came in a big box like the 7mm stuff with a heap of the folded foam .
If they are going to use the bigger box they should put 200 pills in it and charge appropriately.

Couldn’t agree more. They could come in a hypoallergenic, renewable energy box that craps out ozone and I’d be happy. As long as the bullets aren’t damaged and I can get it open I’m good. Just stating my druthers above.

Just because you don't see the damage does not mean it isn't there. Yes it is manufacturing as long as it sells it don't matter to them. As long as we buy it they won't change. I guarantee you they were package that way for a reason Walt was a smart man. I don't care what kind of box they come in as long as they don't roll around on themselves in shipping. I'll test them and move on when they don't shoot.

I'm disappointed to hear they have changed their packaging. It sounds to me like the bullets bouncing around as they cross the country (manufacture to distributor to customer) will suffer some possible damage to the tips of the bullets and that's going to effect how well they will group. Berger If this is going to effect the quality of the product that reaches your customers, I would suggest you change back to the previous packaging and retain your customer bullet base.

That’s why I have started to tip and point my boolits.

You can bitch about it in one hand or make your own... take your pick is that this type stuff comes down to in the end..
I was hoping others would feel the same way but it looks like maybe no one cares or knows when bullets are damaged or not. For several years I've captured mv and terminal velocities and it was an eye opener for me. But like I said no worries when the don't cut the mustard I'll move on.

Most folks that can shoot the difference in a damaged bullet already uses custom bullets- i think thats where the lack of interest is coming from. The majority of their customers would shoot them and keep buying them if they came loose in a flat rate envelope- and never know the difference. Some wouldnt shoot them if they came individually boxed in fitted foam- i just dont think economics will let them change for the better, itll always be the cheaper route im afraid.

I have shot many custom bullets as well over the chronographs.

Believe it or not, the tip isn't near as important as the dings it gets on the back edge of the boatail. Matt

I have worked in manufacturing previously. I started this post in hopes someone from Berger will see it and hopefully return to previous packing methods.
I guarantee you it went something like this. Company gets bought bean counters come in take a look at the operations to see where money can be saved they might have saved fifty cents a box buy packaging the new method. Whomsoever decided to save the $0.50 is probably not a shooter. If no one says anything they will never know that anyone is concerned or that there is possibly any reason to change back. There are many good options for bullets out there right now I have found none that does not require sorting if I'm going to sort them I'm going to spend less for them and achieve the same end result.

Interesting thread, anyone up for rewriting the Economics 101 textbook?
Aside that, am still surprised Bergers are in a plastic box. Hornady and Noslers are in fiber of some sort.

Edit: Most are still in plastic boxes.
