Berger Ballistics Program

I have used it numerous times without any issues. Today I tried opening it up online and my Mc Afee software said it was infected with Trojans. Anyone else having issues?

I ran into the same thing a week ago. I sent Email twice informing them of the problem. I never got a response. I just tried it again. The Trojan Virus is Artemis!69D01C8CC88C. Maybe if enough people email them, they will pay attention. Send email to bergerltd@aol.com and tom.shepherd@bergerbullets.com

Thats Walt Berger and their network specialist addresses.

I have scanned the Berger Ballisitics .exe file with three antivirus programs, Norton, Kapersky, and NOD32. The latter two are "industrial strength" programs that are better than McAffee. In each case the file came through clean.

I can't say with 100% certainty that there isn't an issue, but the problem could be a McAffee fault, or it could be a virus already resident on the users' machines that is activating when the Java engine launches to run the Berger program.

FYI, Artemis is not the Trojan. Artemis is part of the McAffee anti-virus suite: "McAfee Artemis Technology is the first always-on, real-time protection"

McAfee Issues: It is well-established that McAffee/Artemis sometimes returns "false positives" on innocent files which are incorrectly ID'd as viruses. See, for example: https://community.mcafee.com/community/security/malware_discussion/artemis

Google "McAfee Artemis False Positive". You will find that Artemis is even identifying valid Windows system files as viruses.

As noted, I cannot guarantee 100% that the Berger file is clean. But the best antivirus scanners detect no problems, and the program that is flagging the Berger .exe file (McAffee/Artemis) is known to have MAJOR problems with false positives. In the IT world, McAffee is very poorly regarded. It is a resource hog, and it does not perform as well as other options.

I use the AVG Anti-Virus program as my virus protection and my PC runs the Berger Ballistic program with no problems.
