Berger 80.5 vs Hornady 80 gr ELD

I'm shooting my 22CM today. I'm testing both Berger 80.5 and Hornady 80gr ELDs. With the same exact powder charge, the Berger's were 75FPS faster. Why? Bergers were seated, touching the lands. There is no dia adjustment when seating the ELD on a Sinclair Bullet 1' Ogive nut. The Hornady measures 1.601, and the Berger measures 1.570. What am I missing?

Different bullets! Could be different jacket material, different thickness jacket material, different length full diameter. These all can change the friction while moving the bullet down the barrel. Seating difference to lands. Lots of things. Per your measurements the difference is .031!

For my money Berger and Hornady dont belong in the same sentence !! Tommy Mc

Not sure what your use for the 80's are, but I tried out the Hornady 80 ELD-X. The X is for expand. These shot really well in my .223.

When I shot Sierra's with the same load as other bullets, the Sierra's are usually faster. Guessing the jacket material, IMO.
