Do they like to be jammed or jumped? Still working on loads for a straight 284 winchester and a 284 Shehane. Thanks for any info.

I have a .284 Shehane and I shoot 180 Hybrids. Mine likes them about 22-23K OFF the lands. I have asked several people who either have a "straight" .284, a Shehane or Walker derivatives, and virtually everyone I spoke with state that somewhere between 15 and 30K OFF the lands is where the 180 Hybrids like to be seated. Most of them said that 20-25K off is best>>> but there were some at 15K.. I believe them, as mine is in that range..

I am shooting .020" off in my Shehane. However every barrel is different. Only a jump test will tell you the truth. Start load development at .020" off and after you find the load node try a jump test if needed in .003" increments.

I've been shooting them at .012 off but recently tried them just on... 5 shots @ 600..... Think I'll try it for the next match.

That is an excellent group Keith! I see a 600-60X (or dang close to it) on the horizon! What powder / charge / primer?

I have never yet got 600 at 600 yards! I have come REAL close on a few occasions, however, I have never attained that goal! I think you are WELL ON YOUR WAY to a "clean-clean", if you know what I mean!

I'll second the "light touch". Ran them at 15-20 jump for a long time and had great results. Had to tinker and tried a very light touch to 2 off and the scores at 1k improved a little but the x-count went up noticeable. I run 4831sc with tulas.Good luck in your quest. Eric in DL

The best node I have found in my straight .284 is a jump of 0.032" with the 180 hybrids. It is under 1/4 MOA.

tagged...my 284 Shehane is with Alex at Masterclass getting the rifle bedded and stock finished.

I'll be trying H4350 and H4831SC, and might tinker with RE-17 as I have a couple pounds of this as well.

for people interested, here is a link to A LOT of 180gr hybrids in stock: http://store.thirdgenerationshootingsupply.com/browse.cfm/4,14896.html
