Berger 6mm 88gr High BC FB Varmint

Has anyone used these projectiles for Varmint hunting ?
What on target results did you witness ?
Are they fragile/ explosive or quite stoutly constructed ?
Thinking of using them in a 6mm ARC Bolt gun .
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve used the 80 Berger and the 88 high bc on coyotes.

I wouldn’t put either into the explosive category but quite often they would not exit on a broadside shot inside 250 yards.

Farther out they nearly went through all the time.

Frontal shots were DRT and nearly zero exits.

Both very accurate. Shot from a 243.

Thanks for the reply.
My shooting doesn’t really extend much over 275 yrds and the majority is in the 125yrds - 200yrds range .
At 6mm ARC velocities ( Bolt Gun , so my loads are spiced up a bit , but not as quick as a 6mm Creed or 243 etc ) I am concerned that they may pencil through instead of expanding rapidly.
I currently run 87gr Hornady hpbt and 85gr Sierra hpbt with success, but the Berger 88gr FB projectiles would offer a few physical advantages over them if their terminal performance is OK .

If it’s coyotes you’re using them for the 88s will work very well at 6ARC speeds.

G’Day on Ya !

Talk about “ You’re results may vary “….

I tried them in a 29” Broughton SS 6mm 29” 1-8, chambered in my “ DEEP 6 “ wildcat
( 51.2gr H2O capacity ).

At 100yd, I was seeing all 5 shots make holes in the target paper that looked much
akin the shape of cheese grater holes. They would group around 1” or a little larger.

I myself had/have never seen that on a target?! The holes looked as if each bullet had began to tumble @ the same distance…every shot…and if that were the case; that was a really consistent break in their spin-stabilized trajectories ! Other quality 6mm bullets of 85-108gr shot just fine in my wildcat-chambered rifle.

I can’t explain it… won’t even try.

And here you go…. YRMV !

Correction to previous -

“ Harro “ not Harry. I think auto correct caught me napping’.

Apologies!

My buddy and I loved them on deer, but got way too many exits in coyotes. We were shooting them at 3080 and 3210. There were fewer exits at 3210.
