We have been working on this situation for some time. The solution was obvious and known soon after we looked hard at this issue (change the meplat size) but we want to avoid these types of changes if we can. We spent considerable time, money and effort to find a way to make the tighter meplat work.

We are committed to making the best bullets we can. In this case we had to choose between 8% higher BC but spotty, inconsistent and troublesome production or 8% lower BC and the ability to make consistent bullets more easily in greater quantity.

Eric

Eric, first I wont to thank you for all the help in the past, your a stand up guy, with a great Co. And product.
Just a little off topic, but referring to your 6MM 80g #243080 Match bullets. On my last order from a large retailer, I received your 6MM 80g # 24321 marked Varmint/Match. By looking, weighting, and measuring I cant tell the difference, are they the same bullets?
Thanks Mike.

Ericskennard,

Yes there was a problem with the 7mm 180 gr VLD. A large lot of the jackets we use to make these bullets was found to have a defect in the pinch trim. We scrapped the entire lot. It took us a while to make these jackets again but they were made and these bullets have been shipping since last week.

Mike,

Yes the 6mm 80 gr Varmint #24321 is exactly the same bullet as we have always made. This bullet is listed in our Varmint line since it is most often used on varmints.

Jim,

You are correct that the 6mm 105 gr VLD will have a lower BC than the 108 gr BT. We make a few BT bullets that have BCs that are higher than there VLD counterpart. The 30 cal 210 gr BT is one example. I mention this because we sell a large amount of 30 cal 210 gr VLD in spite of this fact.

Eric

Eric, Its great that you patronize this site form time to time, I'm sure every time you must get several question fired at you. Since so many of us use your bullets. So Thanks, and keep up the good work.
Mike.

Mike,

I appreciate your comments. Frankly, I would spend more time on these forums if I weren't spending so much time trying to get caught up. I can't help but think that when I post on these forums some shooters are thinking "get off your computer and make me some darn bullets."

We are implementing a long term recovery plan. I am taking deliberate steps to get our capacity up to where it can supply the level of demand so I can spend more time on the forums helping shooters as much as I can.

Thank You,
Eric
