Berger 6 m/m 105,108 bullets

I recently located a few Berger 105 Hybrids but they were from Berger Lot number 8815. I had heard a rumor that there were some Berger 105 Hybrids that had some "accuracy" problems so I called Berger to check out that rumor. I was told that it was the 105 Hybrids with lot numbers between 8610 and 8815 which were produced in October 2015. Some people had reported "accuracy" problems. Berger did say they would exchange those 105 Hybrid lot numbers if you felt you were having a problem. I first read about this a couple of months ago and whoever wrote about it said it was due to a faulty production machine. Also all the lot numbers between 8610 and 8815 are not just 105 Hybrids so if you have a lot number in that area but they are not 105 Hybrids you should not have a problem.

What is the symptom of these bullets.

Of course I just bought my first 6BR rifle and just started loading and the only bullets I have are 105 hybrid lot 8705!!!

how can I know now if my loads are right or what is going on.

If they shoot good you should know. It depends upon your accuracy requirements. I would imagine the bad lots show bad fliers or no accuracy. I never had much luck with the Hybrid. They shot decent at short-range, but would not at 1000 yards. They always seemed to shoot more vertical and have bad fliers in them. I tried seating depths from .015 to .080 off and the groups just didn't get better. They always looked about the same. The 105 VLD or 108 BT changed when I changed seating depths. Either the size or the group or the shape changed, or both when I changed seating depths. Matt

RV6,
Tentative production for the 6mm 105 VLD AND 108 BT is June at this time. We are working on a new scheduling procedure that barring any unforeseen demand issues , to help alleviate bullet availability issues in the future to go go along with our production expansion. Our apologies for the inconvenience. You may also want to use our DEALER LOCATOR function on our website to see if you can find any stock on Berger Dealer shelves anywhere.

some 108 Bt in australia would be great .. for that matter any 6mm bergers would be great. we only get stuff all in through the importers and they sell out in a day or 2 when they get in :(
It happens here also. The last couple years as soon as suppliers get powder, primers or bullets, it dries up quickly. It does seem to be getting better recently. Matt

........... snip ...........

Not too long ago I decided to try some 105 Hybrids rather than the VLDs I have been using. I got a few boxes of lot # 8705. The meplat on these bullets looked like they were formed by a young boy in Bangladesh using a small rock; i.e. they were horrible with one side folded over more than the other. I used a meplat trimmer and countersink to uniform the tips and they shot well enough to win last months local 600 BR match.

A newer batch (lot # 8829) arrived the other day and the tips are much better formed. I haven't talked to Berger about it, but I suspect the accuracy problems are a result of malformed meplats, or whatever the plural of meplat is (meplaturi?). French is a language for women as far as I'm concerned.

Well, this is great! My first purchase of Bergers and they fall in the possibly bad, lot numbers! Guess I'll call them and see what they can do. My 6mm-284 will be ready to go in another 3-4 weeks and I certainly don't want to chase my tail looking for a good load when the bullets themselves might be bad!! My barrel will probably have a short life span and I don't want to waste barrel life shooting bad bullets.

Then hybrids are probably not your best bet. IMO

My guess is you built this for a varmint gun and hunting. I would use a VLD hunting bullet before a Hybrid if that is your purpose. Matt

I have been reading this thread an I am curious as what the initial complaints were about the hybrids in question enough to encourage Berger to replace certain lot numbers.

Stan,
If you have an issue please contact us first at 714-441-7226 or ryan.robertson@bergerbullets.com .
If you are unsure if you have bullets that have a dimension out of tolerance, you have two options. You can shoot them to see if there are any performance issues. If they do not perform as well as previous lots, or if they fail to meet your expectations, contact us for an exchange. The second option is to simply contact us for an exchange. We guarantee our bullets and will exchange them to ensure that you are fully satisfied. You can shoot them to see if there are any performance issues. Stan,
It was a slightly oversize diameter (.0005 ). It affects lot numbers 8610 to 8815 produced in OCTOBER of 2015. If you have an issue please send them back to us ATTN RYAN ROBERTSON with contact information so after they are checked he can get back with you for return or exchange.
