Berger 52gr Preferred Powder

I have a bolt action 223 with a 22" PacNor 1-12 medium sporter barrel and surplus of Berger 52gr bullets, what powder and primer would you guys recommend, thanks

When .222 was King of benchrest some would scoop the case full of 4895 and seat a 52 grain flat base on top. Not 223 but maybe close enough. Probably best to err on the side of caution and start loads with less powder but 4895 is a good powder to start with. In my humble opinion.

There are so many legit combinations, this thread could go on forever. When I started XTC 100 yard matches, a 52 grain whatever and Varget with a Rem 7 1/2 primer worked fine, it was very accurate. For some reason I traded some odds and ends and ended up with a whole bunch of AA2460 during a Varget shortage, it meters so well you can calibrate and dump the charges right from your powder measure. It may not be as popular as some other ball powders, but I’m really glad I have a bunch of it. I load 52 to 69 grainers with it.

N133 in my .223 bolt gun works well with bullets up to 70 grs. 1-8 twist Hart barrel. 52 gr. Barts. 70 gr Berger VLD.

I've had excellent results with 26.0 grains of W748. Lately I have been using Benchmark somewhere around 25 grains and I have two rifles that put them in one ragged hole at 100.

I have been loading LT-32 behind 52 bergers in a 22 BR and it flat works. There isn't a bad post here though. I have never used 8208 just because I have read about a lot of variation and was always afraid I'd get a bad lot#
