berger 115g molly VLDs

Hello all, Do any of you guys shoot the berger 115g VLD bullets in a 24in barrel 243 with a 1 in 8 twist and found them to stablize.

I used a 26" Schneider,T2K's original back in 2004, 6XC) supposed to be 1:8 & had terrible results with that bullet.

Berger suggests 1:7.5 - or faster - is a better choice for that particular projectile. I have a couple hundred on hand as a result; the DTAC 115 works fine in the Pac Nor 1:7.5's I've used since.

I have used the 115s in a 1-7.5 Krieger and 3rd time ever on the 1000 yard line shot a 200-8X then finished off the ammo box in the extra time for 30 clean shots in a row, total. They stabilize at that twist rate with ease. I have also shot them in 1-8 twist Wilsons and they have stabilized. But, in the 1-8, I have always had them going around 3000fps or faster, so that MIGHT be a factor.

Keep in mind that 1-8 doesnt necessarily mean its really 1-8...could be more, could be less. And I think velocity becomes important with the big long bullets too.

Thanks for info guys, I will have to get hold of a few and try them, My 24in blaser match barrel has a 1 in 8 twist so running at 3000fps+ with Lapua brass and n560 might stablize the 115g bergers regards paul.

I've had decent results at 600-1000yds. with Berger 115s in a Bartlein .237" bore 8-twist chambered for the 6x47 Lapua, but DTAC 115s shoot considerably better in that barrel. So far, I've been a bit disappointed with the Berger 115s in a new Krieger .236" 7.5-twist, chambered with the same 6x47 reamer. However, since the Krieger absolutely hammers with DTAC 115s, I haven't had a lot of motivation to experiment further with the Bergers. After things slow down a bit later this summer, I intend to try the Bergers again.
