bergara b14

Nice looking rifle for about ~$950. I'd like to hear more about the action. It looks like they based it on a Remington 700, but added some nice features (bolt handle, bolt release, firing pin indicator).

I read an article from Field and Stream that they use Stiller Tac 30 action with a Timney trigger. But wait, that action costs $950.

They make their own actions and barrels, actions is based off Rem 700, I love mine, 1/2" MOA at 100 and 200 yards factory stock, I did upgrade the trigger

I have one. B14 hunter. I believe the 1moa claim is a joke. Guns have shot under moa for a long time. I have certainly shot some tight 4 shot groups with mine using handloads. I can say it is for sure a rem 700 clone. Mine is now using rem700 hardware and long action stock. Total clone. The barrel fouls with copper something fierce compared to what my research leads me to believe is average. Seriously. I like that the 270 isn’t a 22’ bbl! The stock is flimsy and is probably good to carry for hunting but I’m doing mostly target (when I can anymore here in Oregon...) the trigger sucks and is not adjustable. Technically you can “adjust” it from 35 lbs to about 34 and a quarter maybe before the Allen screw gets stripped as the metal is so soft. I have not shot less then 1.3’ with Hornady factory ammo (5+ shot groups... 3 shots, yes sometimes) but have shot under .5 several times. I’ve only shot load development with far too many bullet powder combos thus far so really can’t sspeak to accuracy but I do bench shoot and use a target scope and solid stock and for sure Hornady whitetail 130 and 140 will not shoot 5 or more under an inch. Maybe if I replaced the trigger but can’t say for sure. A user on this forum “boltfluter” I believe, will pretty up your bolt if you want. If I ever fancy it up it’ll be jeweled, just my preference.

Maybe on something other then the b14? They make their b14 action and claim very tight tolerances though and use it on several lines. Their barrels are probably made close to shilen as from what I understand was their consultant for transitioning from just black powder barrels to also making center fire.

i almost went the Bergera route. Went with a Tikka T3x Lite instead. I knew I was going to do a at least a re barrel. Im waiting on it now, along with a Bix'NAndy, and a custom stock. I really liked the look of the Bergera stock. I like that the industry is getting closer and closer with what the shooting customers are wanting, while trying to keep the prices down.

Bergera has custom rifles based off the Stiller action, but the entry rifles are not. I was very impressed with the one HMR I had my hands on. Their website is a good source of info
