Bergara b14 action with 6.5PRC bolt

hello to all,
I have a Bergara B14 barreled action in 6.5 PRC and would like to chamber it to 6.5 Creedmoor.
my question is:
can I install/use the 6.5 bolt from Bergara or Rem 700?

thank you all

The front of the 700 bolt is different from the Bergara. The Bergara bolt is "coned" to match the coned rear face of the barrel, while the 700 uses a "shrouded" bolt nose that mates with a pocket in the barrel.

So, it would have to be a Bergara bolt.

would a Remington 700 bolt fit/work in the Bergara receiver?
I am replacing the barrel
if i get Remington 700 bolt with 308 face will the trigger and firing pin mechanism work?

Since the Bergara uses a 700-pattern trigger, it is possible but there are other things to take into consideration. Things like bolt body diameter, position of the locking lug bearing surfaces relative to the bolt length, whether or not the 700 bolt sleeve will clear the receiver, the primary extraction cam configuration, etc. Just because the action is a 700 "footprint" doesn't mean internals will interchange.

Instead of replacing the bolt, why not simply sleeve the bolt face to the needed smaller diameter and use the correct extractor for the .478" case head.

didn't know that there such a fix for the bolt face,
does anyone know if Bergara sells receiver/bolt parts?
This place has extractors that look to be better quality than factory.

Making such changes with actions not designed to do so doesn't always lead to good results. It's rarely a simple bolt swap, and unless you your own machine tools it can get spendy.

For example. I have a CRF M-70 in 30-06. I want to change it to a 300 RUM or 30 Nosler. I did find a Magnum bolt, but I am going to have to machine the back of the lugs for it to fit. I also have to change to magazine, ejector, and follower; and then modify the bolt stop. All this has to be done fairly precisely or the rifle won't feed right-as I know from doing this conversion several times......

For your Bergara, you will need to have someone put a bushing in the bolt or get a Bergara replacement bolt and have it fit to the action. While you might get lucky and have the new bolt fit, there is no guarantee. You will probably also need a magazine and follower to fit the 6.5 Creed.

I am curious why you would want to go to the 6.5 Creed from the 6.5 PRC? If this is a hunting rifle the 6.5 PRC is much more capable. If it isn't shooting well then have a good quality barrel installed. It it were mine and it had a long magazine box, I'd make it a 300 PRC, which would be a simple barrel swap. The 300 PRC is probably the most flexible NA big cartridge we have.

If the recoil is too much, put a good brake on the 6.5. Since everyone has now figured out how to use earplugs when hunting, brakes are an excellent option.

If you want to make this into a target gun, there are many better choices than the 6.5 Creed. Like the 6mm Dasher, 6 BR, 6 BRA, etc.

Regardless, I think a better option is just to get a rifle already chambered in 6.5 Creed vs converting yours.

OK so here goes.

A Bergara bolt and a Remington bolt are not interchangeable, they are dimensionally different.

I do know a few that have replaced their standard B14 bolt with a Bergara Premier bolt, that is
a drop in modification. Call Bergara and they will sell you one.

thank you all for the info,
this is for a friend of mine that bought a Bergara in 6.5 PRC on the advice of the salesmen at the store in Florida, him and his son(13years old 5'2" 120lbs) to shoot/compete at midrange matches, muzzle brakes are not allowed and ammo is very expensive. i have 6.5CM dies and could help him with some reloading.

Why not have him buy 6.5 PRC dies and the you can still help him with reloading?
