Benchrest Target

I have never looked through my scope at a BR target. Is the blue and tan easier to see at a long distance?
Easier than what? I can see the blue and tan fairly easy at 600 yards without mirage. Some say they can also see their bullet holes.... I can't.
At 1000 yards it is less easy to see (for me).
This is using a Nightforce Competition scope at full magnification.

my two cents ... I'm subject to error at any time!

Ibs vfs has gone to the tan with red. There are some older targets still in use.
600 is tan & blue still it's really hard to see bullet holes when they are in the blue.

Here is a tan and black 100yd. It would be a very wild shot to not hit in the tan center.

Easier than black on white that I have been using?

I'm thinking the OP is asking about contrast and the appearance of the reticle against the target background. As an example, the aiming black of F-Class targets is very dark and can sometimes make a fine line or dot reticle difficult to see against the target background, especially in low light conditions. I've often thought the light blue background a much better background choice seeing as how the reticles we use are black (unless illuminated). The F-Class targets originated from Highpower targets where iron sights and/or low power optical sights are used, so the origin of the aiming black is understandable; why it wasn't changed since F-Class originated, less so.
