Benchrest stock design

Good morning,
I'm looking to get some opinions. What do you feel are the pros and cons of a stock with drop vs no drop. I'm talking parralell forend and butt. I have noticed less recoil with a stock that recoils straight back vs a stock with drop like a st-1000. I don't know if one would shoot better. What do you guys think?

Tommy Shurley has a stock with a 5" fore end that is light, has low recoil, tracks great and is available. He can completely finish it in minimum time, doing super work. You will enjoy talking to him.

Not wanting to buy a stock.
The mbr's bag riding surfaces arn't parallel.
If you were going to build a stock with parallel bag ring areas. Would you build drop into it or not? Why?

I shoot small BR's free recoil and really like how a paralell stock tracks straight back but I have read several times by some smart guys that a stock with some drop in the butt will allow the rifle to more quickly and cleanly break away from the interface with the bag and supposedly is theoretically more accurate.
Have no idea if it's true or not.

Why is the action tang sticking up out of the stock?

I have been told that as well. I guess it is supposed to help with bag friction consistency? I would think a gun that came straight back would return to battery better than a gun that lifts away from the bag every shot, due to the drop.

Ridgeway,
My best guess is that the tang is out of the stock because that is where it has to be to get the trigger the desired distance from the front of the pistol grip. The stock shape is a set design, that is produced on a duplicator, and then bedded for whatever barreled action the shooter chooses. In this case, there was a conflict between appearance and function that was resolved in favor of function. It still looks pretty to me.

It does look pretty nice. I'm guessing the Bat has a integral recoil lug and not relying on the rear tang as the lug.
