Maybe Elmer finally pulled the plug? If he didn’t will he fix it or see about fixing it? He hasn’t fixed or addressed any issues for quite some time over there so I’m not holding my breath on this one.

A lot of good stuff in that database
For sure. I’ve gone back to reference lots of discussions and info over the years. Makes me feel like I should have copied and documented much more than I have.

On one early update they lost all of the original content from the beginning. That’s when Brackney and a bunch of other gunsmiths and comp shooters posted before they gave up over being told they were doing it wrong by others less informed. That was a loss and if it doesn’t come back this time that’ll be an even bigger loss.

BRC was The Place for intelligent, passionate and informative discussion and the sharing of ideas and concepts for serious accuracy shooters.

Serious competitors, gun builders, bullet makers, etc. won't waste much time or breath on self appointed know-it-alls...the vast majority of which have never and will never fire a round in any sort of registered competition. The end result is that the really knowledgeable people just quietly stop posting. A few hang in there and try to keep it alive, but like trying to push a rope...it's a lot of effort/time spent with minimal forward progress.

It's an unfortunate byproduct of interweb forums. Knowledgeable people with things to share leave. The bloviators become the majority. Everyone loses.

Good shootin' -Al

Al, why don't you call Elmer and see if he'd sell it to you. You'd be the perfect admin for it. Might be speaking out of turn here but I bet he'd give it away to someone that would take it over. It should make someone a few dollars. Not like this site but some income.

Some years back I asked Wilbur about the administration of that site. Apparently it takes more equipment than I’m aware of. He said that the site was under attack from scammers and malicious virus attacks more than a few times a day And that he had to monitor it constantly. I don’t know if there is new hard and soft ware available to cut down on constant human intervention. I’m the fish out of water here. Wilbur was not the type to kick guys out on their ear or even have them stand in a corner for a length of time. As far as I was concerned, that needed to occur more often And maybe I was as guilty as the next guy at times. I remember when BRC was in its earlier stages of popularity that I would ask better known shooters about getting on and sharing their two cents worth and pretty much to a man they said there were too many ne’er do wells waiting to pounce with bad information and belittling opinions they just didn’t have time for. We have met the enemy and it is us?

I think that all likely applies to any forum such as here or there.

Just ask Forum boss about the workload he has here. It's not for the faint of heart I'm sure. Having to hire help (how many I don't know).

Can't disagree that it would come with some work. This site is far and away bigger than brc ever was, though. I wouldn't doubt, 10 to 1 bigger. It appears brc has been functioning with near zero administration since Wilbur passed, what, a couple or three years ago now? So that's the other side of that. It'd take someone that has free time and actually WANTS to do it. How profitable it is or isn't is likely very much up to how aggressive the admin is in regard to making it a for profit endeavor. I wish I had the time but I also realize that I'm probably not the right person for the job, even if I had the time.
